One thing, done well
Most companies chasing “AI” are playing a game of breadth. I am playing a game of depth.
A small business does not need another tab, another setting, another half-working feature with a sparkle icon. It needs the draining work to go away — reliably, quietly, on its terms.
The rule
Every tool I ship has to do one of two things, clearly:
- Save the founder meaningful time
- Improve the experience for their customers
If it does not do at least one of those without adding cognitive load, it does not ship.
Why this is hard
Breadth is flattering. It looks like progress in a screenshot. Depth is boring until it compounds. You pick a narrow problem, you live with it, you refuse the adjacent “while we’re here” features that would make the page look fuller and the product worse.
That is how a one-person studio stays honest. One thing. Done well. Then the next.
